- The one gripe I have with most youth and teen Catechisms is that they tend to gloss over the teachings of the faith by using "loose" language. "YOUCAT" does away with the ambiguous language and TELLS IT HOW IT IS. Imagine that! - I have gone through this catechism and to say the least, it is a huge disappointment. This "catechism" will go down in history as the first Catholic "catechism" to quote Martin Luther to supplement its texts. There are a host of other problems as well that do nothing but cause confusion for the targeted audience, which is the youth. First of all there are just as many if not more non-Catholics quoted in the side margins to "supplement" the text as there are Catholics. For example, Brother Roger Schutz, the founder of Taize is quoted several times (pg 57,190), Ludwig Fuerbach, the atheist philosopher is quoted (pg 57) who is best known for his attack on Christianity…
